Where’s My Postcard?

A quick guide for Mail Art Movement artists still waiting.

Why delays happen.

Delays aren’t usually about disrespect or “stealing.” More often, they’re part of the natural process. Some artists need extra time to complete their postcard, and making a handmade piece can easily take more than a week. International mail is also unpredictable, one card from the Netherlands to the USA took 56 days, and another from Australia to Belgium took 75 days. On top of that, simple human errors happen: typos during signup, typos on the postcard, incorrect postage, or customs delays when a card isn’t mailed as a simple postcard. And sometimes life events get in the way. Be kind, please. Life always comes before postcards.

Over 1,000 posts on social media is proof that most postcards make it just fine. It’s easy to make noise when things go wrong, but this isn’t about reward. The spirit of the MAM is to spread joy, and the true joy lives in the sending.

What to do.

  • Wait it out. Domestic mail can take weeks; international often 6+ weeks.

  • Double-check your own address. Reach out to Sharlene, she will gladly check your address.

  • Keep creating. Focus on the giving.

  • Report. Keep reading.

Reporting

If it’s been over 60 days since assignments went out, use the form below. We’ll will quietly flag the sender’s account. Two flags = we step in. (So far, no one has reached two. A very good sign!) If your postcard does eventually arrive, please reach out so we can clear the sender's account of your imposed strike.

Always assume good intent. No public call-outs, please. What if your sender sees it? What if they put a huge amount of time and love into it? What if knowing it got lost in the mail breaks their heart? Your words can hurt. Report privately if needed. The MAM runs on trust, patience, and creativity. Thank you for keeping it joyful!
